Next steps: Orofacial Myofunctional Evaluation & Therapy

A comprehensive evaluation is required to begin therapy. An evaluation typically takes 1.5 hours to assess the whole person and to develop the best treatment plan. Following the assessment, we will discuss the detailed written report with the findings, recommendations, and treatment plan--if treatment is recommended.

If therapy is warranted, we work on exercises to promote correct rest posture for the tongue, lips, and jaw; which will also aid in supporting chewing and swallowing functions.

In addition, we help with pre-op and post-op frenectomy procedures. We will use a variety of exercises to help improve skills in:

  • speech/articulation

  • tongue and facial rest postures

  • chewing and swallowing

  • breathing

Please note, we work closely with ENTs, orthodontists, dentists, and other professionals as the need present to provide your child with the best plan of care.
